The Applications Engineer acts as a vital link between the sales and engineering teams, ensuring that technical solutions are aligned with customer needs. This role involves overseeing the technical details and key initiatives, while also supporting the entire sales process from start to finish. The Applications Engineer will interpret customer requirements into feasible designs and guarantee successful program execution.
Key Responsibilities of the Applications Engineer:
- Act as the main technical liaison among customers, Sales, Engineering, Manufacturing, and Quality teams.
- Assist in business development by evaluating customer RF and microwave needs, crafting technical proposals, and suggesting standard or tailored product options.
- Lead technical program initiatives, which encompass design assessments, documentation oversight, product qualification, and performance testing.
- Coordinate cross-departmental efforts to ensure timely product delivery that meets customer expectations, regulatory standards, and AS9100 quality specifications.
- Oversee the technical aspects of customer programs, monitoring project timelines, deliverables, budgets, and schedules.
- Work alongside Engineering and Product Development teams to discover opportunities for new product ideas, design improvements, and customized options driven by customer feedback and market dynamics.
- Prepare and conduct technical presentations, product demonstrations, and review test results for customers, OEMs, and integration partners.
- Evaluate RF and microwave performance metrics, including insertion loss, VSWR, phase stability, shielding effectiveness, and other essential electrical parameters.
- Keep updated on relevant military, aerospace, and commercial standards, such as MIL-DTL, NASA, IPC, IEC, IEEE, and associated qualification criteria.
- Collaborate with Sales and Marketing departments to create technical sales materials, product datasheets, application notes, and proposal templates.
- Offer technical advice through the product development lifecycle, from initial concepts to production and customer support.
- Assist in customer meetings, design discussions, and problem-solving to ensure effective implementation of products and solutions.
Qualifications for the Applications Engineer:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related discipline.
- At least 3 years of experience working with Radio Frequency, microwave, or high-frequency coaxial products.
- Solid understanding of RF principles.
- Familiarity with military and aerospace requirements.
- Knowledge of AS9100 and ISO-9001 standards.
Additional Skills Preferred for the Applications Engineer:
- Proficiency with CAD, SolidWorks, HFSS, CST, or similar design tools.
- Experience in the defense, aerospace, or space sectors.
