Medical Assistant 2
Sarasota, FL
8 am – 5 pm (M-F)
$20/HR
The Medical Assistant 2 acts as the main liaison for patients at a Sarasota, FL outpatient facility. This position provides both clinical and administrative support in a dynamic environment, offering direct care within the bounds of certification while ensuring thorough documentation and operational effectiveness. Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is required, alongside strong teamwork with physicians and nursing personnel. This role is scheduled for Monday through Friday on-site, with a possibility for extension or conversion to full-time status (not guaranteed).
Key Responsibilities of Medical Assistant 2
- Be the initial point of contact for patients
- Conduct back-office clinical tasks, such as measuring vital signs, administering injections, performing diagnostic tests, collecting specimens, and executing phlebotomy procedures
- Accurately log patient data in the Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system
- Prepare, sanitize, and maintain equipment and examination rooms
- Work closely with doctors and nurses to facilitate patient care
- Handle moderately complex administrative and operational responsibilities
- Organize tasks while upholding quality and compliance standards
- Adhere to departmental policies using sound judgment and minimal oversight
Requirements for Medical Assistant 2
- 1–3 years of experience as a back-office Medical Assistant providing direct patient care
- Active State Medical Assistant certification (RMA or CMA)
- Current CPR certification
- Bilingual in English and Spanish
- Experience working in a fast-paced healthcare environment
- Basic proficiency in computing, including MS Outlook
- Excellent communication abilities and a collaborative approach
- Must complete TB screening as it is a patient-facing position
Preferred Qualifications for Medical Assistant 2
- High School Diploma
- Experience with phlebotomy
- Familiarity with EMR systems and HEDIS
- Active certification from AAMA, NHA, AMT, ARMA, or NAHP
- AART Radiologic Technologist license
