Certified Pharmacy Technician

The role of the **Certified Pharmacy Technician** involves delivering exceptional pharmacy services to our patients and collaborating organizations.
Responsibilities of the Certified Pharmacy Technician:
- Adhere to all federal and state regulations governing the ordering, management, and handling of prescriptions and pharmaceutical products.
- Uphold security and confidentiality protocols concerning protected health information (PHI), ensuring compliance with HIPAA standards.
- Regularly update and manage patient profile records in line with state pharmacy requirements.
- Participate in all relevant pharmacy team meetings.
- Enhance quality initiatives by following established operating procedures.
- Comply with regulations from the Ohio State Board of Pharmacy and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
- Maintain a clean and hygienic work environment, following FDA guidelines.
- Assist with pharmacy services by stocking, labeling, preparing, and dispensing medications as permitted by state regulations.
- Support pharmacy inventory management by checking stock levels, forecasting medication needs, placing orders, verifying incoming shipments, and disposing of expired drugs.
- Ensure a secure pharmacy workspace by following standard operational procedures and regulations.
- Clean and maintain pharmacy areas and equipment as directed by established protocols.
- Facilitate the movement of medications through different workflow stages.
- Safeguard patients and staff by strictly following infection-control practices.
- Organize medications for dispensing by reading prescriptions, preparing labels, calculating dosages, and assembling orders for patients.
Requirements for the Certified Pharmacy Technician:
- Must be at least 18 years old with a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- Current Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) registration with the Ohio Board of Pharmacy is required.
- Strong understanding of pharmacy-related state and federal laws, regulations, and guidelines.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented setting and promote a positive company culture.
- Proficient in using Windows-based computer systems.
- Experience in a community, mail-order, or hospital pharmacy as a registered pharmacy technician is advantageous.
