Job Overview
We are on the lookout for a seasoned EHS Manager to spearhead Safety, Health, and Environmental initiatives within our manufacturing setting. This position is pivotal in ensuring compliance with environmental and safety regulations at the federal, state, and local levels while promoting ongoing enhancements in workplace safety, environmental care, and operational risk mitigation. The SHE Manager will collaborate extensively with operations, engineering, facilities, and leadership teams to develop and sustain effective SHE programs and management systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Facilitate the adoption and upkeep of Safety, Health, and Environmental management systems to guarantee regulatory compliance and alignment with company SHE policies.
- Oversee adherence to OSHA, environmental, and other related regulations at federal, state, and local levels.
- Carry out SHE inspections, audits, assessments, and investigations across manufacturing sites.
- Identify priorities for safety and health inquiries and orchestrate corrective actions.
- Suggest and promote engineering solutions and process enhancements aimed at reducing workplace hazards and averting injuries or illnesses.
- Implement SHE management practices aligned with OHSAS 18001 and ISO 14000 standards.
- Generate reports, findings, and recommendations pertaining to SHE performance metrics.
- Engage in cross-departmental teams to address safety and environmental challenges through cooperative problem-solving.
- Advise on equipment acquisitions, workspace designs, engineering controls, and operational processes.
- Coordinate with regulatory bodies and assist in compliance-related communications when required.
- Assess training needs and create SHE training programs for employees and management.
- Supervise the development and execution of SHE training, serving as an internal expert.
- Examine industrial hygiene sampling strategies and assist with data interpretation and the formulation of corrective measures.
- Evaluate trends in injury and illness to develop initiatives aimed at minimizing occupational risks.
- Work alongside Operations, Facilities, Risk Control, and other departments to enhance workplace safety outcomes.
- Create and implement SHE policies, procedures, and programs that support operational aims and abide by regulatory mandates.
- Assist in the configuration and planning of facilities and processes that involve hazardous materials or operations.
- Lead or assist in safety committee efforts, fostering greater participation in SHE initiatives throughout the facility.
- Deliver leadership updates and reports on SHE performance metrics and initiatives.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health, Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Understanding of federal and state Safety, Health, and Environmental regulations.
- CSP certification is a plus.
- Strong familiarity with OSHA Process Safety Management (PSM).
- Experience in a manufacturing or industrial context.
- Background with emergency response programs and incident command protocols.
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities, adept at navigating complex safety and environmental issues.
- Capable of working autonomously, prioritizing tasks, and effectively managing multiple projects.
- Strong communication, presentation, and training skills with experience in engaging employees at all levels.
- Proven experience in leading or supporting continuous improvement and SHE efforts.
- Excellent organizational, leadership, and teamwork abilities.
- Capacity to influence decisions regarding operational and strategic matters relating to SHE performance and risk management.
