Lab Collection Specialist
Solano County, CA
$17.50-19.00/HR
On Call (PRN Schedule)
As a Lab Collection Specialist, you will operate in a Criminal Justice environment, focusing on the collection, logging, ordering, processing, and shipping of urine and oral fluid (saliva) specimens for the purpose of drug testing.
Key Responsibilities of the Lab Collection Specialist:
- Perform the collection, logging, ordering, processing, and shipping of urine, oral, and/or hair specimens to the laboratory.
- Ensure all specimens are collected in an organized manner.
- Prepare and package samples for shipment.
- Complete requisitions, chain of custody forms, and manage all related documentation.
- Collect and scan insurance information, if necessary.
Qualifications for the Lab Collection Specialist:
- A high school diploma or GED is essential.
- Preferred experience as a Medical Assistant, Phlebotomist, or Nursing Assistant.
- Experience in a medical office or treatment clinic is advantageous.
- Ability to read names, test codes, and follow simple instructions.
- Basic computer literacy is required.
- Must possess a keen attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities, along with strong interpersonal, organizational, and customer service skills.
- Self-driven, capable of meeting tight deadlines both independently and collaboratively.
- Contact with biological specimens is part of the role.
- Protective equipment is mandatory.
- May require lifting items up to 25 lbs.
- Ability to stand for extended periods is necessary.
- Conducting observed collections may be required.
- Must be efficient in fast-paced environments.
