IT Infrastructure & Automation Engineer
Painesville, OH
The IT Infrastructure & Automation Engineer will spearhead the improvement, modernization, and upkeep of the organization’s technological infrastructure by providing direct technical support, engaging in systems engineering, automating processes, and driving continuous enhancement initiatives. This position will work closely with leadership and various stakeholders across departments to deploy, support, and fine-tune business systems that promote operational efficiency, scalability, cybersecurity, and sustainable business goals. Additionally, the role involves supporting ERP and related systems through analytics, programming, automation, database management, systems integration, and advanced troubleshooting.

Planning:
Facilitate the ongoing development and enhancement of IT infrastructure to ensure it aligns with business strategies and operational goals.

  • Establish and uphold policies and procedures that adhere to SOX Compliance, ITAR Compliance, NIST Cybersecurity Framework, CMMC Requirements, and industry best practices.
  • Assess and suggest technology solutions, improvements to infrastructure, automation prospects, and system integrations.
  • Assist in annual IT capital and operational budget planning by pinpointing infrastructure lifecycle necessities, licensing needs, and process enhancements.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, manage, support, and optimize infrastructure systems, including servers, networking devices, firewalls, virtualization setups, backups, telecom systems, operating systems, and cloud technologies.
  • Create and sustain automation solutions, scripts, integrations, and reporting tools using technologies such as SQL, PowerShell, .NET, APIs, or equivalents.
  • Support and maintain ERP systems and related business applications, including Infor XA (Mapics) and associated manufacturing platforms.
  • Conduct advanced technical troubleshooting and root cause analysis for issues related to infrastructure, applications, networks, and systems.
  • Ensure system availability, uptime, reliability, and disaster recovery preparedness through the deployment and continual enhancement of best practices.
  • Identify avenues for ongoing improvements, automation, analytics, AI application, and enhancements in operational efficiency.
  • Aid security initiatives by establishing and maintaining secure system configurations, access controls, endpoint security, backup integrity, vulnerability remediation, and network safeguards.
  • Collaborate with third-party vendors, consultants, and service providers regarding infrastructure, telecommunications, hardware, software, licensing, and support services.
  • Support audits and compliance activities related to SOX, NIST, CMMC, DFARS, ITAR, and internal corporate mandates.
  • Maintain and provide support for laptops, workstations, mobile devices, tablets, phones, and other peripheral hardware as necessary.
  • Provide support during non-business hours and weekends as required.
  • Operate in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations, promoting ethical conduct through honesty and integrity.
  • Perform additional tasks as needed.

Qualifications:
Education

  • A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
  • A technical degree or a comparable mix of education and experience is required.

Experience

  • At least 5 years of hands-on experience in IT infrastructure and systems engineering, ideally in a manufacturing setting.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in scripting, programming, automation, or systems integration.
  • Experience with SQL and relational databases is necessary.
  • Familiarity with .NET, PowerShell, APIs, or similar technologies is preferred.
  • Experience with cybersecurity frameworks and compliance standards such as NIST, CMMC, DFARS, SOX, and ITAR is advantageous.

Technical Skills & Knowledge

  • Familiarity with ERP systems in a manufacturing context.
  • Experience with AS400 environments.
  • Knowledge of Infor XA / MAPICS.
  • Experience with Enovia SmarTeam is preferred.
  • Expertise in infrastructure engineering and administration.
  • Proficient in firewalls, routers, switches, and networking technologies.
  • Experience with Microsoft Exchange / Microsoft 365 administration.
  • Familiarity with cloud technologies.
  • Experience with virtualization platforms.
  • Knowledge of backup and disaster recovery solutions.
  • Proficient in automation and scripting technologies.
  • Skilled in systems integration and reporting tools.
  • Understanding of security controls and best practices in cybersecurity.
