General Toxicology Associate Scientist
Location: Newark, DE
Compensation: $24-26/HR
Position Overview:
We are on the lookout for a meticulous and committed General Toxicology Associate Scientist to become part of our dynamic team. This position is crucial for ensuring the well-being of laboratory rodents, maintaining the integrity of studies, and assisting with various in-life study operations. The perfect candidate will possess experience in animal care and handling, sample collection, and data management within a research environment.
Key Responsibilities:
• Ensure the wellbeing of laboratory rodents throughout their time in the facility.
• Maintain the integrity of ongoing studies.
• Carefully handle and restrain laboratory rodents as necessary.
• Administer test materials via various exposure routes, such as dietary, oral gavage, intraperitoneal, and subcutaneous injections.
• Measure and document animal body weights, perform clinical observations, and manage holding for eye examinations, among other in-life functions.
• Collect biological samples, including urine, feces, and blood (via tail venipuncture).
• Utilize both manual and digital methods for data collection (including software like Provantis and Microsoft Office).
• Accurately collect, document, and report findings in a timely fashion.
• Comply with all relevant SOPs, GLPs, and safety protocols.
• Continuously learn and enhance laboratory skills as necessary.
• Organize and maintain study records and data systematically.
• Communicate effectively with Study Directors, Supervisors, Veterinarians, and other team members.
• Assist colleagues and undertake additional tasks as needed.
• Be willing to work weekends, holidays, and/or extra hours on a rotating basis.
Qualifications:
• A Bachelor’s degree in animal science, biology, or a related field, or a combination of applicable work experience and advanced education.
• 2-5 years of relevant experience preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
• Capable of working both independently and collaboratively with minimal supervision.
