Machinist
Beltsville, MD
Pay Rate: $28 – $30/hr
2nd Shift
As a Machinist, you will collaborate with various teams to assist in the production of manufacturing components. You will be responsible for setting up, adjusting, operating, and maintaining various manufacturing machines. Additionally, you will engage in continuous improvement initiatives, which include daily 5S activities.
Machinist Responsibilities:
- Interpret blueprints and sketches to create parts according to specifications.
- Collaborate with fellow shop staff to facilitate the manufacturing of parts.
- Evaluate and address issues related to fixtures and tooling in production areas.
- Execute riveting and de-riveting tasks, including insulation installation and removal.
- Use and modify manual machining tools, such as lathes, mills, and drill presses.
- Conduct equipment setups and perform routine maintenance.
- Troubleshoot equipment as required.
- Ensure machinery is maintained with appropriate coolant and oil levels.
- Utilize designated gauges to verify that parts adhere to specified tolerances.
- Engage in continuous improvement efforts, including daily 5S practices.
- Aid in training newly hired personnel.
Machinist Qualifications:
- Completion of high school or an equivalent educational background.
- A minimum of 5 years in a machinist role.
- Skilled in reading blueprints and technical specifications.
- Familiarity with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
- Capacity to lift up to 35 pounds.
Machinist Additional Skills:
- Experience with tools and dies.
- Background in custom fabrication techniques.
