Overview of the Construction Inspection Technician Role
We are in search of a Construction Inspection Technician to contribute to the inspection of construction, materials testing, and quality assurance for various infrastructure projects. This position incorporates fieldwork, laboratory tasks, and office responsibilities, providing practical experience with roadway, bridge, utility, and other civil engineering projects. The successful candidate will be meticulous, enjoy tackling challenges, and seek to advance their career in the fields of construction inspection and engineering services.

Key Responsibilities of the Construction Inspection Technician

  • Conduct inspections and testing related to earthwork, concrete, asphalt, and utility construction projects.
  • Perform both field and laboratory tests on construction materials, including soils, concrete, and asphalt.
  • Assess construction activities to ensure adherence to project specifications, plans, and quality benchmarks.
  • Compile comprehensive reports documenting test results, observations, and findings from inspections.
  • Assist with sample collection, quantity assessments, and maintaining construction documentation.
  • Provide support to engineers and project teams during site investigations and construction processes.
  • Quickly identify and report any instances of non-compliance observed on-site.
  • Travel to various project locations as necessary and ensure safety while working in diverse weather and field conditions.

Qualifications for the Construction Inspection Technician

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in construction inspection, materials testing, civil construction, or a similar field; recent graduates are welcome to apply.
  • Knowledge of construction methodologies, engineering concepts, or quality assurance protocols.
  • Experience in field or laboratory testing of construction materials is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with infrastructure construction such as roads, bridges, or utilities is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities, with a proven track record of maintaining precise records and reports.
  • Capable of working both independently and as part of a team in field and office settings.
  • A valid driver’s license and a clean driving record are required.
  • Relevant industry certifications (e.g., ACI, NICET, ICC, CWI, or DOT certifications) are beneficial but not essential.
