Residential Journeymen Electrician
On Target Earnings: $100,000
Location: Northwest Indiana Territory (Hobart, IN)
The Residential Journeymen Electrician is responsible for the safe diagnosis, repair, installation, maintenance, inspection, and explanation of residential electrical systems and associated equipment. This role requires technical expertise, professional judgement, adherence to safety protocols, thorough documentation of work performed, client education, and upholding ethical standards.
Key Responsibilities for Residential Journeymen Electrician:
- Respond to scheduled service, repair, troubleshooting, maintenance, and installation tasks in residential environments.
- Participate in company projects, attend necessary meetings and training sessions, and complete additional job-related tasks.
- Conduct electrical work on existing residential systems, including panels, breakers, circuits, wiring devices, switches, receptacles, lighting, smoke detectors, GFCI/AFCI protection, grounding/bonding components, disconnects, transfer switches, EV charger installations, and other related equipment.
- Utilize meters, testers, hand tools, power tools, ladders, lifts (if assigned), and other approved equipment safely and effectively.
- Interpret work orders, panel schedules, labels, manufacturer instructions, basic diagrams, product specifications, and installation guidelines.
- Engage with clients in a professional, respectful, and honest manner during all interactions.
- Comply with all company safety procedures, OSHA/IOSHA regulations, electrical safety standards, manufacturer guidelines, PPE requirements, and relevant federal, state, and local laws.
- Thoroughly document each job using the company’s software, forms, checklists, invoices, estimates, notes, photos, inspection records, and other documentation.
- Keep job sites and company vehicles clean and organized at all times.
- Attend and actively engage in required meetings, morning huddles, training sessions, ride-alongs, vendor trainings, safety meetings, performance evaluations, and company events.
Qualifications for Residential Journeymen Electrician:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- A minimum of 4 years of experience in residential electrical work.
- Proficient in troubleshooting, repairing, maintaining, and installing residential electrical systems.
- Excellent customer service abilities.
- Possess a valid Driver’s License.
Additional Skills for Residential Journeymen Electrician:
- Completion of a trade school, technical school, or apprenticeship program.
- Experience in EV charger installation.
- Background in training apprentices, helpers, or entry-level technicians.
