Senior Buyer
Cleveland, OH
$45-50/HR
The Senior Buyer will work closely with cross-functional leaders to spearhead the formulation and implementation of sourcing strategies aimed at enhancing competitive positioning, ensuring supply stability, and fulfilling business objectives.
Key Responsibilities for the Senior Buyer:
- Collaborate with various business units and other departments to thoroughly assess business requirements and identify suitable suppliers that provide high-quality products at the lowest overall cost.
- Analyze and interpret market trends, supplier capacity constraints, leverage opportunities, regional compliance, and optimal sourcing practices to devise and enact sourcing strategies that secure sustainable competitive advantages for the organization.
- Leverage Global Procurement methodologies and tools to meet Procurement goals and ensure adherence to corporate governance, all while addressing business needs.
- Maintain an organized approach to ensure data integrity, accuracy, and consistency within systems.
- Negotiate, implement, and oversee Supply Agreements by understanding:
- The implications of contract language
- Company demand forecasts and pivotal growth targets
- Quality, responsible care, regulatory, and supply chain obligations
- Industry supply and demand variables and their relevance to sourcing strategies
- Historical and market-driven pricing factors
- Oversee supply risk management by collaborating with Operations, Supply Chain, R&D, PM, Quality, and other departments to reduce risks and ensure supply security.
- Initiate and drive initiatives focused on cost reduction and improvement of working capital while effectively managing cost challenges.
- Cultivate supplier relationships by developing Supplier Relationship Management plans for key suppliers, promoting continuous improvement, maximizing value, and minimizing supply risks.
Qualifications for the Senior Buyer:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Chemistry, Supply Chain, or a related discipline is essential.
- 5-10 years of experience in sourcing, operations, or supply chain, including at least 3 years dedicated to strategic sourcing of raw materials.
- Exceptional negotiation proficiency.
- Strong communication and relationship management skills with both internal stakeholders and external suppliers.
- High competency in data and value analysis, along with excellent IT capabilities.
- Firm understanding of legal principles associated with contracts.
- Strong grasp of Supply Chain fundamentals and their interplay with Sourcing.
- Solid understanding of Finance basics.
- High ethical standards.
- Comprehensive understanding of Regulatory frameworks.
- Ability to work autonomously while effectively managing multiple priorities.
- Travel may be necessary based on project requirements.
