Lab Technician
$20 – $22/ HR
Location: Johnston, IA
The **Lab Technician** plays a vital role in supporting a research team focused on the development and assessment of innovative plant breeding techniques. Under the supervision of a lead researcher, the qualified individual will assist in various plant tissue culture research endeavors. This role involves collaboration with team members to facilitate research objectives.
Key Responsibilities of the Lab Technician:
- Support the design, execution, and evaluation of research-related tasks, including, but not limited to:
- Handling samples in sterile conditions
- Collecting measurements, imaging, and analyzing experimental data
- Organizing and prepping samples as required
- Conduct plant tissue culture tasks, which may include plant transformation, propagation, and analytical testing of plant tissues.
- Adhere to safety protocols, employing aseptic techniques in the lab.
- Maintain thorough documentation of experiments and demonstrate the ability to analyze and interpret data.
- Accurately record data using both proprietary and standardized software tools.
Qualifications for the Lab Technician:
- Preferred candidates possess an Associate or Bachelor’s degree in biological sciences, ideally with relevant industry experience or comparable educational background.
- Experience with plant transformation in either academic or practical settings is strongly preferred.
- Strong problem-solving abilities are essential.
- Meticulous attention to detail and the capacity to maintain focus during repetitive tasks are crucial.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team as well as independently is a must.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, along with excellent organizational abilities, are required.
- A self-driven and goal-oriented mindset with outstanding work ethics and time management capabilities is necessary.
