**Medical Director
San Diego, CA | Hybrid
$130-$145/hr – Commensurate with experience**
The Medical Director plays a pivotal role in providing guidance and leadership in Clinical Development for clinical trials, focusing on their design, execution, and evaluation. This position collaborates extensively with various departments, such as regulatory affairs, pharmacovigilance, biostatistics, and medical affairs, to ensure that the clinical development initiatives adhere to scientific, ethical, and regulatory standards. Additionally, the Medical Director offers medical expertise and support to the clinical operations team, investigators, and external entities, including health authorities, ethics committees, and patient advocacy organizations.
**Key Responsibilities:**
**Leadership in Clinical Development at the Study Level**
– Work alongside Clinical Scientists to deliver clinical leadership across 2-3 study teams, ensuring scientific rigor and alignment with organizational goals.
– Perform medical monitoring tasks, which include evaluating eligibility, reviewing data, and monitoring safety.
– Facilitate peer-to-peer communication with investigators.
– Act as the primary liaison for addressing clinical concerns among study teams, investigators, ethics committees, steering committees, and regulatory bodies.
– Lead and participate in the creation and upkeep of clinical trial and regulatory documents in partnership with Clinical Scientists and cross-functional teams.
**Strategic Insights and Clinical Interpretation**
– Partner with Clinical Scientists to analyze and interpret clinical data, identify significant findings and their implications, and convey this information to both internal and external stakeholders.
– Maintain a high level of clinical knowledge and professional skill by keeping up with the latest advancements, literature, and guidelines, enabling effective advice and direction for current and future clinical development strategies.
**Qualifications:**
– Medical degree required.
– A background in healthcare (such as PharmD or NP) with pertinent clinical or industry experience, typically at least 4 years.
– 2-5 years of experience in the industry.
– Board certification or eligibility in oncology or a related field is preferred.
